Reggio Emilia
Reggio Emilia Philosophy
Reggio Emilia's approach guided our teacher through following principles
1. Capable Learner
Children are seen as capable learners, full of curiosity and full of potential. They actively construct their own understanding by connecting new ideas to their own knowledge, as a metaphor “not an empty vessel to be filled”.
2. Role of Environment
A "third teacher" environment is carefully planned to stimulate curiosity, encourage exploration, and promote social interaction. Our learning environment is carefully designed to support young children's needs, with child-sized furniture that fosters independence and exploration.
3. Teacher as co-learners
At Casgala, teachers are not just instructors, but also collaborators, researchers, and facilitators in the learning process. Teachers learn alongside children, they explore topics together, encouraging curiosity and asking open-ended questions which allow children to express their opinions and their thoughts. Children also feel more comfortable with teachers as they feel equal participants in the learning journey.
4. Documentation
Documentation as communication to parents about progress and understanding the individual children better - potential skills, thoughts and interests.By providing documentation, we share children’s learning as a portfolio of project-activities by the end of school-term, also the report of montessori’s observations and assessments according to EYFS British curriculum to identify their own possible next steps.
